How to calculate a pressure washing estimate

Multiply each service quantity by its matching billed rate, round each line to cents, and add the lines. If the service subtotal is below your minimum, raise it to that minimum once for the visit. Add agreed extras or a separate trip charge afterward. The result is a pre-tax estimate based on your entries—not an automatic local market quote.

Measured area: Length × width, in feet
Service line: Quantity × rate for that same unit, rounded to cents
Job estimate: max(service subtotal, minimum service charge) + agreed extras
Private contribution check: Estimate − all job costs you entered

Measure the work, not the property listing

A driveway can be split into rectangles. Siding is wall length times wall height; it is not the home’s indoor floor area. Count only the areas included in the job, and use a separate line when the rate changes.

Make the final quote clear

Agree on access, water supply, preparation, stain treatment and cleanup before setting the price. Pressure washing and soft washing are not interchangeable methods for every surface. The calculator prices your scope; it does not select equipment or chemicals.

Add a job reference and agreed scope in Customer copy, then download the PDF or copy the readable estimate. The customer output includes your measured services, exact rates, minimum adjustment and extras. For a branded document with fuller customer details and terms, use the Quote Generator below and re-enter the reviewed figures; private data is never passed through a link.

Pressure washing estimate examples

A driveway with a minimum charge

A 30 × 20 ft driveway is 600 square feet. At an example rate of $0.25 per square foot, the service is $150. A $200 minimum raises the service charge by $50. Add $75 of agreed stain-treatment work and the estimate is $275 before tax.

Two surfaces, one minimum

The same 600-square-foot driveway at $0.25 adds $150. A 200-square-foot patio at $0.30 adds $60. Together they total $210, above a $200 job minimum. Do not apply the $200 minimum separately to each surface.

Check what remains after your costs

For a $275 estimate, entering $100 in total expected costs leaves $175 before any costs you have omitted. If the crew visit takes two hours, quoted revenue is $137.50 per crew hour. This is not a wage rate or verified net profit.

Pressure washing pricing questions

How much should I charge per square foot for pressure washing?

Use a rate that covers your own work, equipment, travel, supplies and business costs, checked against quotes for comparable work in your market. Surface condition and access matter. This calculator deliberately starts rates blank; Try example shows how the arithmetic works without presenting it as a recommended price.

Should I price by the square foot or by the hour?

Measured flatwork can suit a square-foot rate. Uncertain or detailed work may suit agreed crew hours or a flat service. Choose the basis for each line and make it clear to the customer. Do not enter employee wages where the form asks for a billed crew-hour rate.

How do I measure a house wash?

Measure the wall surfaces to be washed: wall length × height, with additional sections entered separately. The floor area in a home listing is not the exterior siding area. Use a safe measurement method; this calculator does not require climbing or choose a cleaning method.

How does the minimum service charge work?

It is a floor for all service lines on one visit, not a charge repeated for each driveway, patio or wall. A $150 subtotal with a $200 minimum receives a $50 adjustment. Agreed extras entered in the extras field are added after that adjustment.

Can I include gutters, fences or a separate trip charge?

Yes. Use linear feet when your quoted rate is per linear foot, measured area when it is per square foot, or a flat item for an agreed service. Put a separate trip charge in extras only if it is not already covered by the rates or minimum.

Can I send the result to a customer?

Add an optional job reference and agreed scope, then download the customer PDF, copy the readable estimate, or print it. A blank PDF worksheet is also available for measuring on site. For a branded document with customer details and terms, use the linked Quote Generator. This page does not email the estimate or attach your private cost check to it.

Does the private check show my actual profit?

It shows quoted revenue minus the total job cost you entered. If that cost omits overhead, insurance, labor, taxes or other expenses, those are not magically included. Revenue per crew hour is also not take-home pay. Use it to check an estimate, not to certify a margin.

Assumptions and sources

See the calculation basis and references
  • All monetary entries are US dollars. Example rates demonstrate arithmetic and are not current market prices or a quote for your location.
  • Length and width are feet. Area, linear feet, crew hours and flat items remain separate billing units; they are never added into a misleading combined area.
  • Each line amount rounds half-up to cents before lines are summed. Minimum and extras accept cents. Rates accept up to four decimal places.
  • The minimum applies once to the combined service lines; extras are outside it. If your business includes extras within its minimum, include those items as service lines instead.
  • The estimate excludes automatic tax. Confirm applicable charges and scope in the final quote. No chemical quantities, pressure settings, cleaning method or roof-access instruction is calculated.
  • Optional internal costs and planned crew hours are excluded from customer CSV and printed estimates. An incomplete cost figure cannot establish profit.
